» ElizabethGlover - Thank you for the lovely article on the Tsarevich Aleksei

Well worth waiting for! Nice to see an extensive retelling of the child's life available in one place, on the Web. Where did you find the oyster episode?

Thanks again! Aleksei is my very favorite member of the Imperial Family.

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks very much for your warm comments about my article. Indeed, I realize I have not been as faithful about publishing articles lately as I usually am. This is largely to overwork at school, and as this is almost over I am sure that the second part of Aleksei's life will soon be published as well!

The oyster episode was retold by Maria, Rasputin's daughter, in a series of articles I read quite a while ago in a Russian newspaper, soon after Maria published her book. To tell the truth, I am not sure that it included oysters -- only some very expensive, traditional dish; jellied oysters were a favorite at the Russian court and that is why I said "oysters." But it may have been caviar. At any rate, the words about "Aleksei the Nasty" do indeed belong to Tsar Nicholas II, as does the rest of the episode.

Thanks again for stopping by, and be sure to check out the next half of the article, which should be here soon!

Ana, I too have been frantically busy recently and have been saving this article up for a time when I can fully appreciate it and this has just happened. A fascinating bewitching story superbly told - as you know me for a Rasputin buff I was delighted at the sinister way you introduced him at the end of the article. I have patiently awaited part one and I suppose I will patiently await part two as well, providing you fulfil your undertaking to publish soon!!

Thanks for dropping by -- I'm glad you liked it! And thank you, of course, for your patience -- I'm actually losing it myself at this point, as my schedule has become absolutely crazy lately. But I am certainly working towards publishing the next part of the Aleksei saga... Given the amount of information, however, I'm actually thinking of breaking it up into three parts now!!

In the meantime (I feel horribly guilty not providing you with something to read while I struggle to publish) you can visit http://www.livadia.org/missing/ -- a site I dug up recently. It's quite fascinating as it tries to investigate just whose body is missing from the Romanov grave... As you may well imagine, it pertains to Aleksei quite well.

I hope to hear from you again sometime, when I finally do publish more of Aleksei's story!

Regards,

Many thanks for the link - yes, it's a fascinating read - if horribly gruesome, and provoking pathetic and upsetting images. One can't help feeling distressed even eighty years on. But a great piece of deduction and elimination; they convinced me!

» CheezIts - LOVED IT!

Dude, I loved it! =) Why did you never finish it? I've been using it for this Social Studies project that's due in five days, and now my project's only half done!

... Ooh well. I love this article, though. It was awesome and I'm surprised at all the pictures you provided.

Maybe you'll finish it in less than five days...? Hehe.
