» Renie_Burghardt - Water Hi Victoria, what an interesting article. Yes, most of us are too wasteful when it comes to water. I have my own well, and haven't had a problem yet, but I collect rainwater and use it on the garden in the summer, and on the indoor plants, and even like to wash my hair in it! How generous and kind for the Baptist church to make water available for people that need it. Divine intervention indeed!Enjoyed the article, as always. Hope things are going well in your world, Victoria. Take care. Renie -- posted by Renie_Burghardt » vix1 - Re: Water In response to message posted by Renie_Burghardt:Hi Renie! Thanks for reading my article on water--I'm really glad you're conservative with your water resources--and not wasteful! Yes, the Baptist church is very kind and generous to give so much to the people. Without the Church, many people would find it impossible to live in this part of the woods! Thanks for visiting, Renie--I sure appreciate you dropping by. -- posted by vix1 » Gloria_Morris - Water Conservation We also conserve water, both out of necessity and out of ecological concerns. When you live on well water, and you aren't into a huge aquifer, you learn to work with the resources you have.Rain water harvesting is a huge interest of mine. I'm always interested in reading about others' systems! -- posted by Gloria_Morris » vix1 - Re: Water Conservation In response to message posted by Gloria_Morris:Hi Gloria--how nice of you to drop by! It's so nice to meet another like-minded person. If only more people would conserve their resources, the world would start to heal. I'm hoping we get a really wet spring and summer this year, so that we can glean enough water to meet our needs and have a little left over. Mother Nature provides! Thank you for dropping by and I hope you'll be visiting us again soon. Best wishes, -- posted by vix1 » Red - Great article... Victoria, this is a great article. Yes, many people waste a lot of water. When I was a child, we lived in rural southern Ontario and we didn't have a well, only a cistern. The water was not fit for drinking and we had to carry our drinking water from my grandparent's well. They lived next door. We walked across the field to get it in all seasons. In winter, we would practically freeze our fingers priming the pump.I can assure you that we didn't waste one precious drop of water in those days. Later, Dad had a well dug that produced lovely cold water from an underground spring. It was so full at times that it overflowed and ran down the driveway but he still didn't allow us to waste a drop. The Earth's water supply is precious and we must take care of it. Thanks for this wonderful article. Please consider submitting it to the Nature's Treasures Event. It will fit perfectly under the category "Existing With Nature." -- posted by Red » vix1 - Re: Great article... In response to message posted by Red:Hi Mary! Thanks for visiting, and glad you liked the article. I loved your story of when you were young--thoroughly enjoyed reading it! I'd love to have a spring or a well on this property--but we can't have everything! I will submit this article to Nature's Treasures Event, as you mentioned it!
