» vix1 - Late, late, late! I am sorry my article, Gobbling The Turkey, is late--blame it on my ISP--it seems lately that it's more down, than up. This is the second time they have delayed the publishing of my articles. Please accept my apologies--but I have no control over my server. Time to look for a more reliable one!Apologetically, -- posted by vix1 » Renie_Burghardt - Gobble, gobble! Hi Victoria, oh, are you having ISP problems now? I symphatize. Loved the article, although I must say, I'm one of these people that just can not do this. I have raised turkeys, but just as pets. I had this huge, multi-colored one I called Ludwig. He was something else. Got into fights with a muscovy duck all the time, until one of them had to go.Happy thanksgiving, Victoria. Hope you enjoy lots of turkey, in the company of loved ones. See you later. Renie -- posted by Renie_Burghardt » vix1 - Re: Gobble, gobble! In response to message posted by Renie_Burghardt:Hi, Renie! Great to see you here--thanks for visiting! Yes, Renie, it's difficult to slaughter animals that you've raised, isn't it? I know, you know that, first-hand. That must've been frightening--seeing Ludwig and the muscovy duck fighting. They fight till the finish, sometimes. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Renie! -- posted by vix1 » jerrib - Fresh turkey really does taste best, as does fresh chicken. We bought 100 chickens and shared the task of buying, killing and cleaning them with my brother (he raised them) and cousin. We shared the bounty. It was the worst day for doing chickens - hot and smelly. Needless to say, I couldn't eat a chicken for a long time. I'm not sure I would like to dress a turkey either. It would probably ruin my appetite for a while - but I like to eat 'em! Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Dressing fowl for the first time, is awfully off-putting, but perseverance helped me overcome my disgust! It truly is a yucky job! Thank you so much for visiting, Jerri--please drop by again--it's been lovely to meet you. Have a very happy Thanksgiving, and enjoy your turkey! -- posted by vix1
