» samfish - training for my first marathon

I am very interested in running a marathon, but have yet to train. i would like to know if 10 months is a reasonable amount of time for a beginner runner. am i setting myself up for failure? also, what books or articles would be beneficial to me in how exactly to train?

» Lynn - thanks for your question.

Hi, I am e-mailing you privately about this as I have a lot of information for you, but just to quickly address your concerns, 10 months is a very good amount of time to set your goal on running your first marathon. Age, length of running background, training issues all need to be addressed, but from what I know so far I'd say you have a good chance to run your first thon within 10 months and do so without having any problems or injury. Looks like you have the first step down already; the dream! Good for you!!
