» dean - Hi Lynn! Does anyone have any preferences for energy bars, et Hi Lynn!Does anyone have any preferences for energy bars, etc. I was reading through the Road Runners' Catalogue and there were quite a few different energy bars/drinks/gels. Personally, I have only tried Cliff Bars and Power Bars. I have found both to be very good. Has anyone tried the gels or anything else? BTW, Lynn I saw that "On the Run" has a link to your articles in their links section. Way to go!

I favor the type of bar that also has protein in it, but some runners prefer the type that only has carbs. (One protein/carb bar can be purchased at any health food store, or Walmart & some grocery stores; it is called Balance Bar; or you can contact P.R.Bar Nutrition who has an excellant protein/carb bar ;see my link to them at the top five area.)As far as the gels go, I have heard mixed reviews. Some runners can't stand the taste, others like them. I have yet to try them myself, but will do so this year some time just to get an idea of what they are like. I like Power Bars or the carbo bar that Shaklee makes called Carbo Crunch. Really, it is a matter of what you like. I'd keep sampling till I found one that worked well for my body if I were you. Hope this helps! -- posted by Lynn » dean - Thanks Lynn. Definitely taste is a big factor, especially with Thanks Lynn. Definitely taste is a big factor, especially with me.
