» Suzanne Hill - Thanks!

Hi Leslie,
Thanks for mentioning my Altered Books article. I really enjoyed looking through your articles as well, and I've subscribed to your topic. I also really enjoyed the links you included to examples of altered books on the web.
I agree there's been a lot of recent interest in Altered Books. I love them, they provide so much artistic freedom and fun! Funny that you have brought all this up: because of so much interest in this topic from friends and family I have created a simple how-to article to help people get started, using my own example as a jump-start.
Happy stamping!

Hi!
An altered book is an old book that's been drawn in, cut up, stamped in, pages glued together, painted, embellished and decorated to make it an art object. So you're combining books, words, and thoughts with visual art. Maybe making a journal, or a memory book, whatever you want to create from a formerly-disused book! The coolest thing about altered books - there are no rules!

The irony of all of this to me, is, as Suzanne points out in her article, altered books have
been around for a long time...but the "industry"
is seeing it as the next "goose with the golden egg" for the craft industry. We humans are
funny creatures huh?
