Excellent article, Wendy! Really interesting to read about the various breeds that had been in favor and lost favor with humans. I look forward to next month's article on BSL. And I enjoyed the book review, "When Katie Wakes." You have aroused my interest in this book, and I will look for it. Animals do have a way of turning things around for the better! Take care. Renie

Thanks Renie, I thought it was about time I got serious, again. Glad you found it interesting. "When Katie Wakes" is a brand new release. You probably shouldn't have much trouble finding it, but it is only available in hardcover right now.

» Joy Butler - Those "dangerous" dogs!

I hate to steal Renie's words but she's right, this is is an excellent, EXCELLENT article. Very well researched and logically presented. I only wish we could see that college essay you mentioned. A friend of mine has a Rottie, with a sweet temperament, who works in obedience and schutzhund. I happen to have one of those "dangerous" German Shepherds who is sweet, obedient, protective, and intelligent. And I don't even think I'm prejudiced, because others tell me the same. smile

Thanks JButler. I don't think you are prejudiced at all. I could say the same things about my Rottweiler, and I have other people to back me up, too. As for GSD's, excellent dogs, I've always wanted one myself.

» wamwife - Great!!!

Wendy,
I read your article and I really enjoyed it. I have many questions to ask you but I'd rather not bore everyone with my silliness.
I am interested in that book, it sounds so needing to be read. It makes me kind of think of that movie "Eyes of An Angel" with J. Travolta. It's not like it but there is this dog that kind of inspires in a way.
Ok blah blah blah I'm running on.
Thanks Jill

Thanks for the complement and post away. I certianly don't claim to be an expert on a lot things, but I've I can't answer your question, then perhaps some else here can. Or I might at least be able to point you in the direction of someone that can help.
