» biogardener - It's about time

It's about time you wrote an article on Bach and rock music, seeing that I have been after you to do this for a while.

What I have always seen as the most important link between the two, which you do not mention at all, is the intricate harmonic progressions. No one has ever been able to match those which Bach has come up with, although many composers have attempted to. I have been told by some well-known rock musicians that they analyze Bach's progressions and attempt to reproduce them. Those don't come easily to musicians unlike, like me, they were steeped in church music from an early age. It is hard to reproduce music intellectually when you don't feel it.
