Forensic Considerations in Ritual Trauma Cases (Part 2)Read the article this discussion is about

» CelticFlame - Re: Ritual Abuse I agree with he fact that horrible abuse does indeed go on in cult settings, and that it needs to be stopped. I also agree with the fact that often the child is purposely confused so that they cannot accurately identify people, places or times. However, I disagree with many of the symptoms listed. A child that is convinced that they have an imaginary friend who is in "spirit form" or claims to see or hear spirits may actually be able to. Why is it that in our society we are more likely to believe that abuse has happened instead of the child having a gift. Being interested in supernatural powers again does not mean they have been abused, it just means they are interested in supernatural powers. Please remember that most comic book heros as well as several television shows portray people as having supernatural gifts. Even romance novels are now getting into that by offering books where the heroine is a witch and by witch I mean someone who practices Wicca and i understands that the basic "law" of their belief system is "And it harm none, do what thou will" Harm none being the point. As well as romance books where one of the characters has a psychic gift of some sort. We believe in Nostradamus's powers, yet we refuse to believe that many people today are the same way and that even Nostradamus was a child at one time. Now I'm not saying that all of the "signs" pointed out in this article are inaccurate, but a few may not be from ritual abuse, they may actually come from having supernatural gifts, just like Nostradamus had.-- posted by CelticFlame » flame1313 - Ritua abuse-forensics article-3parts Thank you,The article described a lot of my childhood; fears, terrors, compulsions, etc.. I took the checklist in part two with me to my therapist appointment. She was very interested and wanted to see the whole article. I was so validated!! My Therapist was impressed with the information on the checklist, so wait till she reads the whole article! This will also introduce my Therapist to a very good website. I told her there were a lot of great articles here on all topics. Flame 1313 -- posted by flame1313 » TiaNaranja - Oh the Bathroom!!! I could relate to many of the symptoms listed. The section on bathrooms hit home too. As a child, I had lots of nightmares and was afraid to go to sleep. I remember not wanting to get up during the night to go to the bathroom; I was too afraid. That made me a bedwetter. Now that I have a 2 yr old, I am avoiding the whole potty training thing. I bought the kid potty, and I've read all the appropriate articles, but I just can't bring myself do it. -- posted by TiaNaranja
