Indian lore? Hispanic culture? Now I'm curious. I should have dropped in when I had the chance. -- posted by humorous_sage » jerrib - Re: Re: You sure hit In response to Re: You sure hit posted by humorous_sage:It's no fun when your grandkids are far away. We moved to the same town with all of our grandkids (and their parents, of course). -- posted by jerrib » jerrib - I just featured a quote from your article on the Society and Culture page, Hank: http://www.suite101.com/societyandculture - thought I'd let you know.-- posted by jerrib » humorous_sage - Re: I just featured In response to I just featured posted by jerrib:Hi Jerri: Thanks for the plug. I needed it. I just returned from the tax preparation dungeon. That is one task that makes me feel like a kitten being chased by ten thousand dogs. -- posted by humorous_sage » Red - loved it... Hank,I loved this article. I have to admit there's not out talking or out eating grandchildren. Kids today are too smart for their own good. Enjoyed my visit, as always. Glad to know you were spending some time with your grandson. -- posted by Red » humorous_sage - Re: loved it... Because of the separation, I fear that I am not much of a factor in their growth. C'est la vie. -- posted by humorous_sage -- posted by cmborris » humorous_sage - Re: Vegas In response to Vegas posted by cmborris:Nevada? That's the last place I got snowed in. I had to dig car out of a snowbank using my skis. Hank -- posted by humorous_sage » jerrib - Re: Re: Re: Re: Good job! In response to Re: Re: Re: Good job! posted by humorous_sage:Las Vegas, NM: There was a plaque on a bridge near old town that said Coronado was there in his explorer days, Hank. We didn't research more in town, which we should have. There's an old drugstore with a soda fountain that has a couple of carved wooden Indians inside and a row of herbal remedies no doubt used by the locals. There's also an old hotel that has been restored as a bed and breakfast, can't remember the history of it. When there we stopped in a western store and a local Indian got to talking with my Dad. I think he told some tall tales of the area; we enjoyed the banter. It's definitely a place where you can travel back in time. It's a college town and sits under some beautiful mountains. We didn't explore as much as we should have. Anyway, this is my bird's eye view. -- posted by jerrib » humorous_sage - Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Good job! In response to Re: Re: Re: Re: Good job! posted by jerrib:I haven't seen a wooden indian since leaving Knotts Berry Farm in California. I guess I should have taken in more of the sights while I was still way down south in Colorado. -- posted by humorous_sage « Previous 1 2 Next » Please follow the guidelines set forth in the Suite101 Posting Etiquette when adding to the discussion. |
