Wow. Resume writing has really changed since I was in the market. However, I think I can still spot a phony who is using the system.

Your article reminds me of an engineer I had working for me who could make a dismal failure look like a phenomenal success when he wrote his final report.

It often pays to know how to beat the system. It also pays to be able to spot those who are merely misusing the system.

Faced with a competitive market place means a job seeker has to be savvy when planning their career campaign. Particularly with so many resumes now being posted on the internet and being scanned into recruiter computerized scanning systems.

Don't misread the article though - keyword optimization does not give a job seeker licence to 'lie' about their experience. In fact mistruths should never be incorporated into a resume.

Job seekers need to be aware that a resume is no longer a document that provides a list of employment/tasks, but rather a compelling document providing an overview of the value being offered to a potential employer from a results-focused aspect.
