» The_Mummer - Thomas Jefferson
First, this is a fascinating approach to challenging others and ourselves. My question would be for Thomas Jefferson. As I get older I find it increasingly difficult to live a life free ... or even relatively free ... of hypocrisy. I'm not referring to little everday hypocrisies or even intellectual, semantic hypocrisies, but major hypocrisy: I can say I love the environment, but will not give up artificial light and motorized transporation; I find the power of major corporations to be a clear and present danger to freedom, yet they produce what I consume and are my customers no matter what my career; etc. It is maddening to feel that as I participate in these ubitiquitous, devilish games I can try to influence outcomes for the better but no matter what I accomplish it will be pathetically little.
So, my questions for Thomas Jefferson. You are full of multiple hypocrisies of which, brilliant and insightful man that you are, you must be fully aware. How does a person find harmony when, in order to live a life that is not isolated, he must "feed the machine"?
