Gee, my son (18 years old) and I just saw this today. While I certainly wouldn't recommend paying more than matinee prices it wasn't so bad. Of course our only requirements in a movie today were that we hadn't already seen it and it wasn't the Powderpuff Girls. AND the theater was air conditioned ( it was 90 in the shade here today). It met those requirements and kept us reasonably entertained.Yes, it did leave unanswered questions and have a number of illogical points but most movies do. Somehow I had the impression it was taking place in 2020. Maybe I was enjoying my popcorn and not watching closely enough.
Anyway if you are a teen age boy with a girl friend who screams and clings it could be an okay movie. You wouldn't miss much while you were comforting her.

First off, you have to consider that this IS a si-fi movie we are talking about here. Second, the movie takes place in 2024 A.D. I know, the trailer says 2084, but thats before they actually played the movie. Like that movie Blue crush, the older trailers called it Rip Girls, but things change. Besides, the story line isn't that bad, even though Van Zan (Macaughnahe) -or however you spell it- was kinda cheesy. And i admit, the first time i saw it, i was fairly disappointed. But for some reason i decided to watch it again, and it rocked. There aren't very many questions left in my mind after the movie. What happened to the egg? Who knows, who cares? The guy took it out of the mothers belly, maybe it wasn't fully grown and died.....again who cares? The Special Effects were NOT B movie style, they were very impressive. And I'm someone who looks for that stuff. Either Way, its at least worth seeing, you just have to have some teenage boys and a bag of doritos, because it's a monster movie with big bang noises and lots of fire and death. Isn't that what we are really looking for??? And if you didn't like it the first time, try watching it again.-- posted by Rapture2x
