» rahunter_nf - Word Games Popular with Adults Too

Many of the games that you list were enjoyed by me when I was growing up and by my grade five pupils when I was teaching. Hopefully, they'll also be enjoyed just as much by my two children, Robert and Shekinah, when they're old enough to play them.

However, it's not only children who enjoy word games. My wife, Leonora, and I play a couple games of Computer Scrabble almost every day after dinner. We also enjoy playing Boggle.

For parents looking for more word games, I'd recommend two books that I bought when I was a teacher and am keeping for use with Robert and Shekinah when they are old enough to play the games suggested in them:

Margie Golick. Playing with Words. Markham, Ontario: Pembroke Publishers Limited, 1987.

Peggy Kaye. Games for Reading: Playful Ways to Help Your Children Read. New York: Pantheon Books, 1984.
