» Dan_Ellsworth - Working *with* you not *on* you. I'm 57, and not too old to appreciate a dentist (and staff) considerate of my feelings. I've got that happy situation, and I'll keep going there. For kids 51 years younger, the personal factor is even more important. My favorite people in the medical professions are those who work with me, not on me; those who will engage in two-way communications with me. Under general anesthetic, *maybe* I would not require a good "bedside manner"; and from lab technicians in the back room performing tests I want precision, not lovability; otherwise I demand a decent personality and enjoy a great one. That's even more important for kids than for adults, and a whole-person approach to medicine is in order. All this is to support the "rant". Congratulations on finding the positive person your son needed. -- posted by Dan_Ellsworth
