» biogardener - a viewpoint I can agree with

I am in full agreement with the principles of this article, but I take strong objection to the explanation of "stewardship" of the earth. I am a student of languages and look at the proper meaning at words, not at their misinterpretations. A steward, according to Webster, is a manager. That means that he looks after his masters affairs. If God has made us stewards of this earth, he expects us to look after it with the same loving care as he would bestow on it. Consider the parable of the talents. The master expected his servants to carry on as he would have carried on. Likewise, to have dominion over creation means to rule it in God's name or in his stead. If people misinterpret this to mean that man has been appointed to exploit nature, we need to condemn the misinterpretation, not a sound principle.

Traute,

I'm no student of languages, but your understanding of stewardship is the same as mine.
