Poisonous plants and???
This archived discussion is "read only".
» bindweed - Poison's and toxins Hello Nancy,I have made a few notes on poisonous plants that relates to two footed critters, but I wonder if any of the pet forums have done so -- for dogs and cats. As we all know some things we ingest can be harmful for other creatures. However, is there a Vet list of harmful plants for dogs? Reason being I wanted to plant a hybrid (not Ohio Buckeye) Buckeye -- not rated as very poisonous, but the owner was still concerned enough that I planted it in a spot where the dog could not get to the tree. I then realized that she had three seeding Laburnums in the same pasture she runs her Dobies in. Laburnum seed is very poisonous to humans. I would not be surprised to find it is to other animals as well. Until folks get a list from their Vet they might want to look at this list and try to keep these plants away from their animals as well. One other note: I hope pet owners understand that the dandelion killers they apply to their lawn can have serious cancer causing consequences to their puppies. If you use these lawn chemicals, I would keep your puppies (AND Toddlers) off those lawns for at least a month! I'm very careful with weed killers as you point out. I resorted to straight vinegar to kill unwanted greenery in the cracks of my cement walkway! -- posted by Nancy
