» razzmusen - Condolences Ain't it tragic, Laura? Sorry to hear about your machine. Your advice is excellent and it can NEVER be emphasized enough. It's too easy to get lazy about this stuff--even now, I'm slipping back into old habits. I'm supposed to know better since it was just last summer that my hard drive died, taking EVERYTHING with it. Still breaks my heart when I think about the story ideas and drafts I'll never see again. I was lucky that I had hard copies of finished stuff (and files in other places, like here for instance), but the rest is gone forever.Technology truly is grand but however friendly these impish machines are (or appear to be), you can't count on 'em to appreciate the blood and sweat you put into your work. S**t still happens! Back up and then back up some more! -- posted by razzmusen » Laura_Elvin - You're right! As dorky as it sounds, no matter how badly it hurts to lose stuff, it's VERY easy to slip back into the habit of NOT backing up.I'm not as thorough as the article made it sound. That advice is my ideal -- posted by Laura_Elvin
