I'm not a teacher, but a parent and volunteer. I understand what you are saying. "Counselors" seem to be the worst I have dealt with. Keep your writing coming!

I agree that counselors are particularly difficult in my experience. In my school of 2,000 students there are only 5 counselors so what kind of counseling can take place? Since I left teaching just this week after 17 years, I've thought about the nurturing thing so much. If I'd been nurtured, I might still be there.

Do todays parents take care of their kids or do they leave them to do as they wish ?
Many parents are very responsible and care about where their kids are and who they're with. These are good parents but many parents just dont care. Take their daughters for example a proper parent would make sure their daughter was appropriatly dressed and they would make sure they knew where she was going and who she was going with. A bad parent would let her their daughter out late at night looking like a prostitute. I know age omes into this but i have seen many young teenage girls smoking and drinking dressed like prostitutes and this is one of the causes of teenage pregnancies. Boys on the other hand could be out rioting drinking ad smoking and getting girls pregnant. If you are a parent take this test and judge if you are a good parent.

1.Do you always know where your child is?
2.Do you always make sure your child is dressed appropriatley?
3.Do you always know who your child is with?
4.Do you have a firm but fair hand?
5.Do you ground, beat or punish your child?
6.Do you make sure your child has their hameworks done before letting them out?
7.Does your child have a kirfue?

It won't be easy, as you know, but the story needs to be told.

Welcome to the Suite.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Parents have abdicated control. I'm amazed constantly when a child is sixteen and the parent comes marching into school demanding to know what has happened to their child. Well, it's a little too late then to start noticing. That should have been happening all along. Thanks for your repsonse.
