» Tina_Coruth - Wow!

Hi John,

What a fascinating article. Being able to read both the fact and the lore makes it all the more fascinating. I didn't even know that Robert Todd Lincoln was almost present at his father's assassination and present at Garfield's and McKinley's. That is quite a coincidence!

Thanks for a terrific article!
Tina

Truly amazing story. I didn't know this, John. I can't imagine what life must have been like for him with the guilt he carried. And such bad timing.

Wow!

Glad you liked the story. I have always found this one fascinating, especially since at least part of the "lore" is factual.

If I were a PResident, I would never invite Robert to join me for a public event! There was one other. I have a picture of President Harding, Chief Justice Taft and Robert Todd Lincoln at the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial. HArding did not live through his term, but at least Robert Lincoln was not involved in his death.

Yes, he did seem to have unfortunate timing! For a man who tried to stay out of the spotlight of history, he certainly was drawn into it often enough.

Thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts. Always happy when you come by.
