» jerrib - Amazing historical facts, John

You do make the history of our governement interesting. I had no idea of the background of these presidents. Again, wish I'd have had a textbook like this when I was young. May have learned history if it had been presented as you do.

» Tina_Coruth - Hi John,

Hi John,

This is very interesting and I am learning a lot from your articles -- as usual! I didn't realize that Garfield was a "U.S. Representative, a U.S. Senator-elect, and President-elect" all at the same time. Wow!

These article are reassuring -- they are a reminder that there have been many, many tough times and the country has always come through them.

Thank you, John.
Tina

» Mugwump53 - Weathering the Storm

You are absolutely correct, Tina. We always seem to weather the storm, and the leaders we need always seem to be there at the time we need them.

I think one thing to note from history is that our system always trains more leaders than it needs, so there is always someone to pick up the flag and continue.

Thanks for pointing out a moral to my story that we needed to hear. You always add something unique when you visit here.
