» jerrib - Thanks for another good article

I look forward to more. Our most current retired president sure has an interesting life after office, hmm? Wonder what will be written about him a hundred years from now.

Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you liked the article. I did not think this series would be this long, but it is turning out that way.

You are right about Clinton. One thing for sure, he is certainly getting more attention than the average ex-president.

Hi John,
I am also enjoying this series and looking forward to the twentieth century presidents. I wonder what Lincoln would have done with his life if he had lived beyond his presidency. Perhaps a question for you and Bucky Rea? It's interesting to ponder. Thanks for this great series!
Tina

» Mugwump53 - Lincoln Retirement

Thanks, Tina. I'm glad you are enjoying this series of articles. It is turning out to be a much longer series than I originally thought it would be.

Interesting question about Lincoln. He would have been a relatively young man (for a retired president). I read somewhere that he had discussed (in that famous carriage ride, I believe) his plans to travel around Europe after his term ended.

Still, an interesting question. He certainly would have had many options open to him.

The daughters of ex-President Cleveland played with future President Wilson's daughters in Princeton, NJ.

» Mugwump53 - Mrs. Preston

Yes, Ossining, The Cleveland daughters did play with the Wilson girls. As the article said, Cleveland became a lecturer, trustee and eventually president of the board of trustees of Princeton University. After Cleveland's death, Mrs. Cleveland stayed on in Princeton and eventually remarried. She married Thomas J. Preston, a professor of archaeology. So her children would have remained while Wilson remained as president of the university.

Thanks for pointing out that interesting connection between the two presidential families.
