Hmmm. Maybe I should get out my birth ball to sit on while I am at my computer! That sounds like a good idea; this chair I'm using is so uncomfortable. I bought a birth ball to use during labor, but didn't get a chance to use it. My labor was about six hours long and I spent most of my time doing the following... 1) lying on my left side 2) sitting on the toilet 3) relaxing (as best I could) in the birthing tub.
Toward the end of labor and during pushing I leaned on the side of the tub in much the same way I imagine you could lean over a birth ball. (It was an inflatable tub with nice, soft sides; the water was awesome, btw.) Thanks for the good article! :D

In response to message posted by MarnaG:She and my mom worked together in the late 70's. She helped deliver my brother Sam, who died 3 days later due to complications. She was there for my birth too. I hear that some of the inspirations for her work in the years since has come from what she did for my brother in '76. We have nothing but respect for her!! She's a wonderful lady!
