Has the church become less than the church?

I think the answer is obvious.

It portends to speak for God as though it has the truth in its vest pocket on a chain. Every once in a while, it pulls it out like a pocket watch to read the time to everyone. And, if you don't accept it, you're outside the circle of fellowship.

So, you get this situation where people start grabbing for straws in an attempt to bolster the number of parishoners who contribute to the collection plates. Some of the stuff you see on television that passes itself off for "Christian" music of one type or another has got our ancestors spinning in their graves.

That was a good article.

I think we have forgotten that it is each and every Christian's responsibility to evangelize and too many times we attempt to put that responsibility on the "church". The church is supposed to be a place where Christians lift up and support each other, not necessarily a place to bring people who need Christ. Of course they should be welcome, but many times instead of witnessing, we invite people to church instead. It is easy to let the pastor do the witnessing through the message.

I am beginning to think I am definitelty pot mordern though I have no idea how to explain it. ( I started reading this topic at the first articles a few days ago)

I decided to speak up here though because worship is what feeds my soul at church. Right now I am not attending and that is a WHOLE LONG STORY but when I did, I would get tpes made of the worship and listen to them at home. I have had neighbours hear them and come to church after borrowing them. the worship leaders prayers and sharing beat the "teaching" by miles. People attended the church for the worship and because it had an awesome kids church.
I haven't read all your articles yet so this may have already been mentioned but I and others I have brought to church aren't really interested in the hour of teaching with out being able to raise our hands and question on a point or ask for clarification. Maybe Post moderns don't like being a captive audience. Maybe it is because even at University ( it is a University town ) you get to ask questions. There is something about corporate worship that I can't get at home.
