Review of the Eagles' Hotel California

I heard "Hotel California" on the way in to the office today, and as often happens for my favorite songs, I wondered how I could re-do it. I live near Eaton Rapids, population 5,000, part bedroom community but also surrounded by some good farmland. The stereotypical town vehicle is a big pickup. I like the place, but I suppose it is due for its own editorials. "Hotel Eaton Rapids" is not written, and may never be. Other four-syllable places that might represent a state of mind or a way of life: Oklahoma, Alabama, West Virginia, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia if you cheat a bit), North Dakota, Tallahassee. It wouldn't be easy; the original has a spooky quality, the feel of an understated horror movie / morality play combination."New Kid In Town" is so good it gives me nostalgia for a past I never experienced. Now *that's* almost scary.

IVE ALWAYS HEARD STORIES ABOUT HOTEL CALIFORNIA AND THE GROUPS DESCENT INTO A PLACE WHERE WHICH TURNS OUT WAS A PLACE FOR CULT MEMBERS. NEVER KNEW THIS TO BE A FACT BUT I SURE WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT BECAUSE NO DOUBT THE EAGLES ARE ONE OF THE BANDS THAT WILL ALWAYS PLAY TO DIFF AGE GROUPS AND ALL KINDS OF PEOPLE ALIKE AND WILL ALWAYS BE ONE OF THE GREATEST BANDS EVER. IM NOT IMPLYING THAT THE RUMOR SAID THE EAGLES WERE AFFILIATED WITH CULT ACTIVITIES BUT I HEARD THAT THEY STOPPED INTO THIS PLACE AND TURNS OUT TO BE A PLACE OF THE OCCULT. I DONT KNOW. This is the sort of thing I would expect to be recorded somewhere on the Internet, which definitely has its "tabloid" areas which would be happy to report any clues to such a thing. I tried search engine Alta Vista requiring three words, +Eagles +occult +Henley - and got 10 matches, some of which I went through but turned up nothing. This might be one of those "Satanists at Proctor & Gamble" things - likely to hit an "industry" leader.-- posted by Dan_Ellsworth
