» Dan_Ellsworth - Hotel Four-Syllables

I heard "Hotel California" on the way in to the office today, and as often happens for my favorite songs, I wondered how I could re-do it. I live near Eaton Rapids, population 5,000, part bedroom community but also surrounded by some good farmland. The stereotypical town vehicle is a big pickup. I like the place, but I suppose it is due for its own editorials. "Hotel Eaton Rapids" is not written, and may never be. Other four-syllable places that might represent a state of mind or a way of life: Oklahoma, Alabama, West Virginia, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia if you cheat a bit), North Dakota, Tallahassee. It wouldn't be easy; the original has a spooky quality, the feel of an understated horror movie / morality play combination.

"New Kid In Town" is so good it gives me nostalgia for a past I never experienced. Now *that's* almost scary.

Thanks for reminding me of some favorites.
