What's the next trend in pop music?

» Antiartstudent - Oh no! I can see the boy band music continuing, if only because people allow themselves to be conned into it with strategic marketing in the mainstream media. These bands are ludicrously overrated and sadly take advantage of the naivety of young girls. Yuck! Parents should not be purchasing this shlock for their daughters, these girls should be encouraged to get involved with music rather than worshipping the boys that do. Also, in cases such as that of Ms. Britney, these young girlie starlets are made into hot-ticket sex toys. It's unbelievable what people will put up with. As for the Spice Girls, however, they were a super influence when they were fun (prime example: little nine year old girl I know constantly tries to learn about feminism, as Ginger always used to talk about it). It had nothing to do with the music, but the ethic (watered down for mass consumption, certainly, but nonetheless getting across to people) behind it. Since their heroine has removed herself from the Spicy life, though, the band .Anyhow, hopefully the next big thing is smart rock. But that would be just another dream. -- posted by Antiartstudent » crunk4lance - *N Sync Hey everyone! Some of you may know that *N Sync's new album "No Strings Attached" is out in stores right now. Let me just tell you, it's an amazing album! I encourage all fans of pop music to go buy the album. And even if you don't like pop music (which you probably do considering this is a pop music page), you will still like the CD because it's got an R&B/dance feel to it as well. Anyway, if you would like to receive more information about *N Sync, I suggest that you sign up for an updates list called NSyncNoSTringsAttchd. To join, simply send a blank email to NSyncNoStringsAttchd@egroups.com. Or, if you wish to request *N Sync on your local radio station, visit http://www.requestnsync.com . Have fun and stay *N Sync!-- posted by crunk4lance » kham - next big thing Sooner or later people will tire of such contrived bands. Original sounds will make there way back into the main stream.Bands like the Vines, White Stripes...are a begining to a more pure effort. Then there are untold talents that will find their way despite the record industry, the new internet based bands will take off. http://www.scottbrookman.com -- posted by kham » afroanglo - Dudes, I know what the next trend will be. People will start playing real instruments again. And by that I mean synthesizers. Enough of this wussie guitar crap like those original guys in The Vines and Crazy Town have been playing. Those felchers are wiggidy-WHACK!I sense a dope stiff breeze blowing in over the horizon of new-ness. If there's one thing we learned in 2003 with such hits as "Who Let Da Dawgs Owt" and "Mockaranuh" it's this: People all over the place like to dance! Black people! White people! Puerto Rican people! Tahitian people! Even Itallians. The next big blow-up in y'allz figgidy-faces will be a Psychedelic Dance Revolution EXTREME! Flaming Lips will change their names to Flaming Lipps Inc and re-do Funky Town and those home-dogs will also be able to afford squibs so they can all have bloody faces in simultaneoustude, dude-muffins! No more one bleeder at a time, dawggies! That's my prediction and I stick with it! Also: There will be a Nu Tang Clan instead of the Wu Tang and they'll start getting Nu Metal guys for each of their tracks! Dopeness alert! Dopeness alert! -- posted by afroanglo » clash77 - Empty V and star culture: Runnin' With The Devil Let's face it - nothing can be truly new in music ever again. People are just too content with mindless pabulum which reverberates with the unmistakable sound of millionaires' pension plans being topped up. I think I feel sick...-- posted by clash77
