We're talking about huge hunks. In the six months ending Sept. '97, Starr spent close to $4 mil reported, and an estimated half-mil on FBI investigations. That was before this grand jury stuff began. I'd say a reasonable estimate for the 9 months since then would be $10-12 mil reported, and several mil estimated; quite possibly higher. Also, remember that your $17 figure didn't count (I bet) any of the estimated accounting; that totals several million dollars since the investigation began. It also probably didn't include the other investigators, who add a few million as well. Let's do a little math. Take $17 + $10 + $8 +$4. Multiply by one million. I get $39 million; you? -- posted by JeredWM » JoelG - Jered - I suspect that it is addition like this that has put us Jered - I suspect that it is addition like this that has put us trillions in debt.(Yes, the above was hyperbole. Really, even if you don't expect to change anybody's mind, do you even expect to foster any sympathy by pooh-poohing my estimates without providing a shred of reason why you're doing so? -- posted by JeredWM » JeredWM - Joel: Are you completely innumerate, illiterate, or just plai Joel:Are you completely innumerate, illiterate, or just plain obstinate? I specifically allocated $10 million, not $22, for 9 months, not 6. Really, if you're going to construct a lie about my position, you're going to have to do better than that! (Now, it appears that for some reason you added the final $8 and $4 million figures into the $10 to arrive at your $22 figure. But only the $10 was for the past 9 months; the $8 was to represent the total of non-itemized [i.e., estimated] expenditures which I think were not tallied in the 17 mil figure, and the $4 was to represent the prosecutors other than Starr who have participated in Whitewater and related investigations. Notice that those are for the entire 6-year [?] duration of the investigations, not the most recent 9-month period.) -- posted by JeredWM » JeredWM - Joel: I stated in my three posts since yesterday in which it wa Joel: I stated in my three posts since yesterday in which it was appropriate that I doubt--not that I have "conclusive evidence"--that the estimated figures were included in the tallies you cited. All of a sudden you choose to attack this belief? My belief was based on quick perusal of the GAO reports... What is your belief based on, other than blind insistence that you must be right and I wrong?Just so you don't have to go to all the trouble of backscrolling, here are snippets of the three posts in question: 1. the $17 mil figure is probably only the amount Starr is required to report. 2.
