In response to message posted by FeatureWriter:Aha, Dawn. Beaten at last!
Yeah, I did make a mistake. I didn't realize that the picture was attached to all messages: I thought it was your child and that I could really rankle you if I attacked your own darling. When I saw it was attached to my own message I realized my error but a little late.
However, you are giving up on this one because you now realize that Rehnquist and Bush have thwarted the wishes of the majority to place their own corrupt administration in power.
I really didn't think the kid was ugly. Just trying to get under your skin.

We are getting into dangerous territory here. I hope no one complains about the ugly guy on the front of my topic area --- and I am not talking about Lincoln. ;)-- posted by Frank_Monaldo

Very mature.
Dawn, I hope you continue to post your articulate messages and disregard the cheap shot thrown your way. I applaud the effort and passion you bring to these message boards. Keep it up!

Dear Gerald,I would like you and Dawn to both continue to post here when you feel like you have something to add. If you find Dawn's arguments unpersuasive then attack her arguments with all the vigor you can manage.
If you poke fun, poke fun at arguments, not at people. If you try to "really rankle" Dawn by attacking her "own darling" how else could this be interpreted but as personal. I thought it was Clinton who argued against the "politics of personal destruction."
I referee soccer games on weekends and have as thick a skin as anyone. However, I would be very upset if someone made a negative and public remark against my child.
I would like this topic area to remain as civil as possible, otherwise people will tend to drift away.

In response to message posted by eileenmin:Thank you so much for your kind words, Eileen. ![]()
I'll definitely continue posting here as I find debating these issues very invigorating, and I especially love reading yours and Frank's posts as you both make very intelligent (and most importantly *mature*!) arguments.
I won't, however, acknowledge the presence of anyone who would stoop so low as to try and attack someone's child during a debate on politics.

In response to message posted by Frank_Monaldo:LOL Frank! That is hardly an ugly picture. The only "ugly guy" around here is the one who picks on little kiddies.

In response to message posted by Frank_Monaldo:Thank you, Frank. You are far more tolerant than I am. If this were my forum, he'd of been banned already.
A soccer ref, huh? You *must* have a thick skin! I'm a "soccer mom" and know all too well how much abuse you refs take out there on the field.
My husband pointed out something to me last night that made a lot of sense. He said that Gerald's attempt to attack what he thought was my child was akin to someone losing an argument badly then having them shout, "So! Your momma's ugly!" LOL
Takes me back to my grade school days.

» animalspirit - Paging Jane Alexander
There's never a really good time for bad art, but as it looks like I won't ever improve my contemporaneous response, here it is with apologies to the denizens of J.R.R. Tolkien and Middle-earth:
Three Jeers for the safe harbor under Grey Sky,
Beamed from the Dark Tower o'er cliffs of stone,
Nine of Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Son to his dark throne
By the High Court Order where the Shadows Lie.
Five Votes to rule us all, Five Votes to find us,
Five Votes to bring us all and in the darkness bind us,
By the High Court Order where the Shadows Lie.
