» dianaclaire - Neuropathy

I have suffered with neuropathy for 10 years now. Every known medication has been tried with very little relief. I take 3200 mg of Neurontin and 400 mg of Carbatrol daily. I also take 10 to 12 Vicodin-ES daily. Nothing relieves the pain. I lost my job in August due to poor production. The neuropathy has spread from my feet to my hands. I am 51 years old and have diabetes. What is strange is that I developed neuropathy one year before the diabetes. I always had my blood checked for diabetes every 3 months. I have heard that neuropathy sometimes develops after a major surgery. I had an emergency hysterectomy, complicated by ovarian necrosis, one year before I got neuropathy. I can't imagine living the rest of my life with this disease. When the pain started in my hands, I became absolutely panicked. There has got to be a more effective treatment for this condition. I plan to file for disability but I understand that will be a battle. Any suggestions from anyone?

Thanks for listening.

Diane

Can you give me some pointers on how to handle the disability application by myself without legal help? I would appreciate anything you can tell me. Thank you so much.
