I'm enjoying this series on writing the novel.
This article made writing the synopsis/outline sound so easy and neat. My method is similar to yours. I can't write a chapter by chapter outline before I actually start writing the novel. Usually I list the main points--The initial conflict, plot point one (the point of change), a middle scene, plot point two (usually a reversal of plot point one), then the end scene. The fun is writing my way to each major scene. Usually my outline is scribbled out, has arrow drawn on it, and post-it notes for ideas of original scenes.
I wish my original outline was neater, so I wouldn't have to toil over the synopsis I have to eventually write when I'm ready to submit.
