Form letter or positive note?

However, if the note was handwritten, it could mean that they were interested in your style, but perhaps that particular piece didn't fulfill a need they currently have. "Thanks but no thanks, feel free to try again" is a fairly typical response, but if the "feel free to try again" is handwritten on a "thanks but no thanks" form letter, then I would see that as a positive sign.Don't be too quick to take form letters as a negative sign, though. Many editors receive thousand of submissions they must turn down for various reasons, many of which have nothing to do with the quality of the work. It's just not feasible to write personalized notes to everyone. Kelly -- posted by rainne
