» Georgene A. Bramlage - Program to convert slide images to digital format

Wendy, I literally have 1000's of 35mm slides, both personal and garden-related, that I'd like to use in various projects without the expense of sending them out to be made into prints or digitalized onto a CD. My daughter has informed me that I could use my flatbed scanner to scan 35mm slides and then convert them to digital format without having to purchase a slide scanner...if I had the correct software program. Unfortunately, she couldn't remember the name of this program. What do you think? Does any of this ring a bell with you? If not can you suggest a source or sources where I might be able to obtain some info? Thanks a million!

In response to message posted by Cercis:

Adobe Photoshop is the best program for this purpose. The program is expensive but you can now get a light version that is not too bad. To scan film or slides on a flatbed scanner you will need one that comes with an adapter designed for this purpose. It is a little trickier than with a film scanner, but it works and will save you a bundle.
