I am looking for advice - I received some color negatives back which were clearly not handled very nicely - fingerprints and scratches! Should I just wash them, or does anyone have any advice/ideas.

In response to message posted by darnyell:

If the negatives are scrathed there may not be much help unless you want to do some serious retouching.

The fingerprints may be able to be removed depending on where they are and how many.

Here is an article you may find helpful.

A package of 35mm and 2"x3" negatives were found in my grandmother's trunk of my Navy service in WWII. Some of the negatives have a dark 'gum' over the film. How do I clean them for copying.
Also, can these negatives be converted to glossy prints by using a scanner and printing? Is there a computer photo program that is 'user friendly' for this purpose? Thanks
