It was a lot of fun to scatter little piles of catnip on the floor and watch the cats have their fun. It was like a 3-ring circus! -- posted by Maureen Fleury » Tina_Coruth - Re: Re: catnip... I love your cat graphics! -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Maureen Fleury - Re: Just stopping in In response to Just stopping in posted by jerrib:Hi Jerri: Thank you very much for dropping in. I also wish you and your family Season's Greetings. I have to go to the pet shop this week and get some fresh catnip for my cats. They should enjoy Christmas as much as us humans do. -- posted by Maureen Fleury » biogardener - Easy to grow Catnip, like all mints, is very easy to grow. You can find out how in one of the two articles linked below. This is one of the three mints which is hardy down to a temperature of way below -40* which is the same in Fahrenheit and Celsius. The article will tell you why catnip is easy to grow even though most people can't keep it alive. I learned a few tricks by watching my cats. They actually eat the fresh catnip, and when they are done eating it, they will plunk themselves on the plant and sleep on it all day. The next day, the plant is dead, unless you install my remedy. If you let the plant go to seed, you will have enough catnip in a few years to grow all over your garden, never mind, all over the town. I have enough catnip for all the cats in Winnipeg, and on account of it, I have no mosquitoes in my garden. They don't like the smell of any mint. I have written a couple of articles on catnip which contain more info: This one tells you how to use catnip for a sedative tea which requires some special knowledge. Did you know that valerian root has the same effect on cats as catnip? Honeysuckle wood is pretty good, too. -- posted by biogardener
