» ratchix - my rats have scabs

1 week ago i noticed that (both) of my rats had scabs on them. i know that it is not form fighting or biting with each other. today they have scabs allover and itch allot, what is this?

Sounds like your rats have mites or lice. Get them to a vet for treatment!

My rat has scabs as well. When I first got him I noticed them and took him to the vet. The vet said that he had mites and I treated him as described by the vet. I took him back for a checkup and the vet told me that he was cured. Although the mites are gone he still has scabs. He is my only rat so I know that he didn't get it from another animal. It seems to be a nervous habit. Should I take him back to the vet?
