Vet fees

» pinkstar17 - What do you pay in vet fees? I guess I'm quite a frustrated rat owner. Don't get me wrong--I love my rats, but I really hate the rat vet fees! I was wondering what other people pay for rat fees.I spent $220 for a tumor removal for one of my girls. She had a hematoma two days later and that cost $45 to remove and wrap. It wasn't wrapped properly and she had another hematoma less than 24 hours later and that cost $15 to drain. Does anyone know if it is common practice to charge for a complication that they believe is going to happen (the doc told me that I would probably have to bring her by the following week because of a hematoma)? I don't know what's reasonable or not price wise when it comes to vet care. Please help! -- posted by pinkstar17
