» Tina_Coruth - Victim of email spoofing

Hi Thomas,

I was a victim of email spoofing and that is a real big pain. It ended up with AOL and a few others, refusing to let my email through because they said I was a spammer. It was very frustrating. The kicker was, that I received this email too - so it looked like I was spamming myself! It has taken time for this to die down. I look foreward to your next article.

In response to Victim of email spoofing posted by Tina_Coruth:

Yeah, I had AOL for a long while. I one time got that they had locked out my account because I had supposedly been spamming. I contacted them and asked when this happened, turned out I wasn't home at the time. Fortunately, they believed me and reinstated my account. At that point, as a precaution, I changed the password and then about a month later I dropped AOL all together. Fortunately with regular email, when someone tries to spoof your email there is an IP address stamped onto the message. All the ISP has to do is determine if that IP is the IP you were using, chances are it is not.
