» Jojo - much later

This article was written a while back, but I often get e-mails about it, especially after st. Patricks day.

I got an e-mail today from a grower of Oxalis violacea and she sent along this beautiful photo of her plants growing out of a layer of rocks.

Thanks Jean!

Of greater importance, Jean pointed out that Oxalis triangularis, also known as the shamrock with purple leaves and light pink flowers, is hardy in her North Carolina garden! Isn't that great news!

Because these are bulbs and they are very often close to the surface, drainage is of utmost importance, even in zones much warmer than North Carolina. On this information I am going to plant 1/2 of mine outside and see what happens.

Any other hardy Oxalis growers out there?
