How wonderful that Pennsylvania named that species of firefly as the state insect.

I have always liked the name firefly though growing up in the South, I always heard them called lightning bugs.

They are fascinating, and I remember so many nights watching them around twilight as they rose higher and higher into the air from the bushes and shrubs in our yard.
