Internet Causing PC Shutdown

My computer shuts down when I visit certain websites, like hotmail, but only after I've logged into my account. I also can't access sites like redlands.edu. I have been able to access them in the past from the same machine, using the same tools. I have even downloaded new web browsers and the whole bit. I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix the problem. I need to access some of these sites soon, so any help would be appreciated.
