» Eyecon376 - Dating or Going Steady?! My 17 year son has been going steady since he was 15 years old...the girl he is seeing is now 19yrs. old going on 20!...While I don't completely oppose this relationship, I still would like to see my son expand his circle of friends to include boys AND GIRLS his own age!!! They are as intimate as can be in this relationship, (can't leave them alone in my house-it's a value thing with me-don't believe in allowing my son to have sex in his parents house) and I'm just wondering!...Is this situation potentially dangerous!?...I mean, she's taking precautions as far as I know!...but I'm terribly worried about my son becoming a father at 17!!! HELP. Please-comments welcome from ALL....-- posted by Eyecon376 » Aoitsuki - Re: Dating or Going Steady?! In response to message posted by Eyecon376:I'm afraid I can't offer much help, but I am very happy to see that you have accepted the age difference between your son and his girlfriend. I am currently 17 and I like a 14-year-old boy. I thought there had to be something wrong with me (especially since he's the same age as my brother!), but I've been hearing more and more about younger boys dating older girls. It's just that at this age the gap seems much wider than it will be in 10 or 20 years. I don't think the situation your son is in is any more dangerous than if he were with a girl his own age or even younger. If anything, it would be more dangerous for the girl, who would have to endure pregnancy and motherhood. I don't know what you can do about the situation other than make your son aware of your concern and the possible consequences of his actions. Fear of becoming pregnant, getting an STD, and/or disappointing my parents are what constantly reenforce my decision to abstain. -- posted by Aoitsuki
