Return to work after birth of baby?
This archived discussion is "read only".
» Malloree - Returning to work I am interested in hearing from Mom's who went back to work after the birth of their baby with DS. I was planning on staying home but a wonderful offer has kind of fallen in my lap and I am not sure what to do. Do I have my family struggle on 25k a year and stay home or take a job for 40k and put my baby in daycare? I don't even know what kind of options are available for daycare. My baby is a preemie and still in the hospital. Can someone tell me their experience with this?-- posted by Malloree » MKSlimak - Re: Returning to work In response to message posted by Malloree:My baby was born on November 28, 2002. Although I am very busy with all of his doctors appointments and therapy twice a week, I am so happy to be back working part-time (2 days a week). I really like my job so I think that makes a big difference too. Brody is with my mom one day and my husbands mom the other day and they treasure the time with him. I would not have gone back to work, though, if daycare was my only option. In Brody's first month of life he developed pneumonia and I would be afraid with all the viruses in a daycare that he would be constantly sick--especially with down syndrome children being prone to respiratory illnesses. Good luck with your decision. Kristi -- posted by MKSlimak
