I was talking to a cousin today about pets and he told me something he had noticed as a boy.

Their family dog would be sleeping in the backyard and if the boy stared at her long enough through a slit in the window blinds...she would wake, look all around in puzzlement, and finally slink under the house when she couldn't see a watcher.
