» Spunkygirl725 - Crazy thoughts

I don't know who else to turn to except to people who are living it. My panic attacks started in 1995, back then I felt like I was going to die, all of those "death" symptoms. I had extensive therapy and was free from panic until now. I just got married & bought a house at the same time, so I figure it's because of all this stress, only now, I don't feel like I'm going to die, but I feel like I'm going to go crazy. Over and over I hear these songs playing in my head and they actually make me panic and start the ball rolling. I try to distract myself, but it keeps coming back and I find this so ridiculous because of a stupid song! Has anyone had this happen to them? I would love to hear from you about it and how you cope and move on!

In response to message posted by Spunkygirl725:

I wish I had seen this sooner so I could have responded to you. I began suffering panic attacks when I was in college. I suffered at varying degrees for 14 years. Then one day, after feeling like I had gotten my panic attacks in control, I went through a lot of stress financially and, while on vacation with my family, I snapped. I experienced more than a panic attack. I experienced a fear that stayed with me and left me feeling like I was going crazy. For me, the only choice was to see my doctor who explained to me that almost all physicians/scientists now agree that anxiety/depression/panic disorders are caused by a physical/medical problem in the brain. After reading a lot of material online, the same message was being reinforced. This is not a death sentence! Don't be like me and waste another day suffering. Go see your doctor. There is medication that WILL cure you--you are not crazy! I am presently taking PAXIL. I have been through the feelings of feeling like a failure because I need the medicine, but it's like my doctor told me, "I see this as much as I do people with high blood pressure. This is no different than a person who needs medication to control their high blood pressure." So I say, see your doctor, make sure you let him know that anxiety and panic are an issue for you. There are certain drugs, like Paxil that work directly for this. I haven't been on the medication for long and I already feel a lot better, so can you!
GOD BLESS!
