» weebits - Remeron and being new on here

I see this isn't a popular place for discussion...and I too will take a chance that perhaps others are out there and just reading afraid to reply.
I recently started onRemeronn 30mg. I was takingeffexorr 350 mg and slowly had toweann myself down to start theremeronn.
I suffer from depression and it is now over a year of trying various things to help my depression.
My mother suffers with SAD disease, and as for me..I don't feel it is SAD that inhibits me..but rather just some formdebilitatinging depression.
I would love to know MORE from others that areRemeroneron and the side effects that they are experiencing and how they are combating them.
For me...they are feelings of being OBE (out of Body) with a wondeaccompanimentament dizziness, food cravings, swelling, and only sleeping periods of no longer that 4 hours. Oh...and less I dare foirritabilityility (though some people close to me would tell you that this is my natural state of mood).
hxief hx of myself: shift worker from the age of 16 until my 40's and I am a nurse. I adore night shifts..always have! I am now unemployed because of my depression. Seems I am still to be accountable no matter WHAT. I wish more people understood about depression and had a grain of empathy towards it.
I am a nice person...honest! At least I believe I am...but then again...I have been depressed for many years and did not know it. Anyone else feel that they really don't know themselves because of this?

Obviously my computer is on remeron too and experiencing letter NONspacing problems. LOL
quickly I will try to correct what was initially posted.
I had to WEAN myself off the effexor to take the remeron. I know I have a form of a debilitating depression (mood disorders are in my family...and I thought we were normally dysfunctional).
I get side effects of OBE's taking this drug with a wonderful accompaniement of dizzy, cravings AND a form of irritability.
Brief Hx (history)of me...the rest speaks for itself

In response to message posted by weebits:

I know this is too soon but I just started taking Remeron 3 days ago. Obviously, I need more time for it to kick in. I have suffered from anxiety and depression since as far back as 9 years old. I'm 22 now. It took me a long time to realise and come to terms that I suffered from this disease that overtakes your life. From the time I was 9 I would medicate myself by eating and soon being 150 lbs. for my 4ft 11 frame. When I hit 14, I experimented with marijuana, cocaine, lsd and u name it, I've tried it. Finally in 1999, I quit doing drugs and drinking and dealt with the anxiety and depression with alot of pain. By October 2000, enough was enough and the doctor put me on Paxil. Maybe the dose was too high because I became manic and stated to do drugs again to calm myself down.BIG MISTAKE!! After a year of Paxil, I switched to Celexa....still no help.I stopped taking antidepresants altogetherand quit drugs and drinking yet again. That was a nightmare.I would start feeling paranoid, depressed, high anxiety and very aggressive. I put myself and loved ones through hell. But luckily, they stuck by my side. 3 days ago, I decided to start on antidepresants again because my moods were unbearable. I still can't sleep and I won't drive because of a bad accident 4 months ago.....anxiety doubled. Well, I wanted to know if everyone on here who is on Remeron has gained weight or does it vary individually? As for the dizziness, it only happened the first day. Is there anyone who is truly happy with the outcome of this medication? Will it help me socialize because I have Social Anxiety. Need to know...and please anyone please get back to me.

Hi Renee,
I just took myself off of Remeron. I was really getting angry on it, ready to FLING everyone and everything out of my way. Previous to that I was taking Effexor. I had good success with that, and still need dosage adjustments.
To make a long story short..my Psych dr. wanted me to try this Remeron (said it had less side effects than the Effexor) as I was so concerned about my weight (I have put on over 40 lbs).
Well, I wansn't happy, nor was anyone I came in contact with while on Remeron.
While on this drug..I was awake 24-36 hours..then would sleep perhaps 4 hours...after a few days of this..I would crash and sleep 18 hours. No way to live.
To my knowledge..weight gain varies among individuals taking this (I try to read up on things)For me..I really didn't give it that much time..this drug isn't for me.
It is long road ahead my dear...I am here if you want to talk or yell at someone (easier when we are faceless). Depression/anxiety/overeating..are terrible things to happen to anyone, but you are not alone.

» ekul123 - Just been prescribed Zispin

My GP's just prescribed me zispin and I was trying to find info on it. Been depressed for last four years and no treatment has worked so far. Dr also wants me to have blood tests and CT scan, anyone know what that's about?

Thanks for reading and any replies would be excellent.

» weebits - Re: Just been prescribed Zispin

I have no idea what Zispin is. I do know that most Doctors due in fact require blood tests to start a baseline.`
A baseline simply put..where you started at (levels) prior to taking this medication.
Some medicines are filtered through the kidney's, some the liver..etc.
These levels will be altered after taking any pill, and if it is raising your levels too high then they can adjust or take you off that med.
It is for your safety.
As for a CT scan...got me there. The only thing that comes to mind is that perhaps they want to see what is going on inside? Again..could be just another caution the Doctor is taking. Either way, it is to your benefit.
Just ask him/her why this test was ordered..you have the right to know.
I read somewhere, that they now can do tests (CT and MRI's to determine if someone is depressed.
Guess they are realizing that depression is in fact REAL, and many people suffer from it.
I hope this helps.
Let me know how the Zispin goes.

» Golathia - The drug game for anxiety for years now.

Little about me. 22 living in my own personal nightmare of having anxiety disorder and trying to live on my own. No body sees how hard it is to deal with anxiety not even my doctor. Hes been putting me on Anti- Psychoics for panic disorder. I have been on wellbutrin starting on remeron, and i switch back and forth on xanax, klonipin(clonazepam *canada*), adivans and i still get panic attacks and constant anxiety i feel nothing has helped. The klonipin was great for a year or so but now nothing.. Im hoping the remeron will do something even just a little bit to help my anxiety.. I just want to live again be a normal 22 year old female able to drive and do stuff like friends do. But yet right now i feel so alone shelterd in my house to scared to leave and no doctor will take care of me cuase of my age and doesnt want to put me on benzos for longer then a few month. I been playing the drug game Take me off put me on for 5 years now. Ive tryed to tell my doctor that i rather be on addictive medication and be able to live my life outside my house rather then what i am right now.. i recluse. anyone find remeron or anything better that i should suggest trying.

In response to message posted by weebits:

Zispin's real name is Risperidone I think. I'm from the UK so that may be why you don't recognise the name. Being 18 and still living at home my parents read the side effects and refused to let me take the drug. Still waiting for CT scan. thanks for the info about blood tests and scan.

hello there ive been on zispin (mirtzapine)for nearly a year now and im doin ok, a lot better than i was without it. its a new type of antidepresent called NASSA'S. it will help with anxiety too. the main side effects i had from zispin when i started taking it was blurred vision and feeling very sleepy but that was only for a few weeks, as for the ct scan, im not sure why any doctor would try a scan before an anti depresent unless you had a history of epilipsly
but im not a doctor so i cant say anymore about that
cgood luck with it
