"free" protectors, shipping, love, etc

Well, maybe it's my English lit/communications/rhetoric background but to me, Free screen protectors is not the same, nor has the same meaning as 'free shipping', 'free love'( is love ever free?)etc.
Here is the way I look at it--
a)Screen protectors that are designed for my PDA ( handerara 330) are hard to find anyway...
b)most screen protectors sell for 24.95 here in Atlanta
c) I examined the offer and it was still a good value, even better with the 'freesp' web coupon
that is given
d)all things considered, what I would pay here in Atlanta (if I could get them)and what I paid online='s they are way under the price here AND I can get them!
And by the way,(a very important consideration) they are very good protectors--
But since we are on the subject let me say my pet peeve is REBATE. The company that offers them is ahead if one doesn't redeem it--has 3-6 weeks float on the $$$ before it is received and processanother anothet 1-2 weeks before one cashes the rebate check and it clears.For them this is better than saying Free:one gets the perception of a lower price (net price after rebate)but doesn't pay that price and won't even get the rebate if the coupon isn't sent in or 6-7
weeks float on the $$$ at the worst.
This is a very good marketing strategy on how to seem like you have lowered whe price w/o actually doing it (which also inflates yamt sales amt figures)
well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
PS. If you desire a prix fixe Saturn is looking for you!But better hurry, they may not be around long...

Well we each have our own buttons and pet peeves, I guess. I did state that this was still a good price, just a bad marketing move. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the matter.
