» nomon - Palm Pilot junk yard in the sky??? PLEASE!!!

Well I am a Palm V owner.
Or should I say I am a Palm V owner who had the need memory, so I sent my Palm out to be upgraded from 2 meg to 8.
This was about 4 months ago, and I must say I have been enjoying the extra room and even the workmanship of the tech who worked on it.
BUT, and yes there is a but. Now the ToDo button at the bottom of the Palm has dislarged, (broken off) and I know that this means that the unit has to be reopened,
and the frame or whatever they call it needs to be replaced.
This means as per the 3 Com tech that they will repair, and restore my unit to its pre 8 meg. shape.
I don't know why they cant just fix the button and leave my 8 meg chip in there, but they explained to me very clearly that they would remove the 8 meg chip and reinstall
a 2 meg one in its place.
The tech went on to say that the good thing is that the button would be fixed.
Oh yeah this step backward would only cost me $100.00. What a bargain!!!
Ok I attempted to purchase the part but was told that they do not sell parts.
So to not run on and on, I am hoping that there is a company out there that takes trade-ins, dead, or used (I need money) old units for the main reason to gut, repair,
and sell for parts.
I will install them my self but I can't seem to find anyone who might have new, or used parts.
Can anyone advice me??? Thanks
