Hey, if Gregorian chant can hit the top 10 in Alabama, why not Songs of the Yule? smile

This is great, and true to the spirit of anyone's holiday celebration.

And you're right about another thing, though you didn't touch on it too much: inter-faith issues are not about who's divine and who's not, they're about learning where our paths come from. My old Catholic Bible talks about the origins of the two conflicting Noah's ark stories: the 11th tablet of the Gilgamesh epic. And Jesus's story tellers drew similarly from the common, interwoven fabric of belief and myth of that time.

December 25th as the birthdate of Jesus comes from Constantine's wanting to keep the major Pagan celebration, traditional in Rome on that day, but without the Pagan part; December 25th seemed as good a day to celebrate Jesus's birth as any, so voilĂ . Christmas Day.

When we trace our religious roots back without bigotry, we find a startling commonality, and traditions more mixed than the population of Brooklyn. And that feeling of one-ness is certainly something we should extoll.

Season's greetings,
Shiloh

I'm glad you enjoyed this. My next several
articles will be on some aspect of the holidays
(mostly).

You're right, I didn't touch on the divine to any
great length. Thank you for doing so yourself.

» shiloh - Cool!

I can't wait to read more. I think really getting in touch with these celebrations is so important.

I mean, what would happen if a huge spiritual Y2K bug wiped out all religious books in the world? Where would we turn? Makes you think, doesn't it.

LOLOLOLOLO!

So how can I determine if I'm Y2K compliant on a
spiritual and religious level?

» shiloh - LOL!

Well, first you have to download Tolerance 5.0 and the Love-Sisterhood plug-in. Next, brew some raspberry tea, put on some Billie Holiday, and relax with your favorite Monique Wittig book while your Georgia O'Keefe screensaver kicks into high gear. Then just let nature take its course. smile

Love & warmth,

» scottishgirl - Shiloh,

Add a little frankincense, and if that isn't a recipe for talking to God/dess, I don't know what is! LOL! Thanks for a most relaxing mental image!

I have to admit that I have no idea what you are all talking about as I have only just joined the web site! However, I was intrigued to see the words "Goergia O'Keefe screensaver"!! I have been lokking for a Georgia O'Keefe screensaver for ages and I wonder if you could let me know where I can find one!!
Thank You!
Heather
