Sorry Irene, unfortunately what was presented about 'Christianity' is not accurate and deserves to be presented, according to fact. Are you saying then that you approve of misleading information? (I consider it an error actually). If so, then I question who really practices hate, since it is you who used this word usage!

spouting your hate and intolerance for anyone not of your beliefs.

Could you please point out the hate and intoleranace from my statements to PandoraB? If anything, I showed my intolerance of the RCC for the attempted elimination of Pagans and others who did not cozy up to their beliefs. Now, that was hate!

Should you have a problem with me correcting what is an obvious Catholic holiday, then take it up with management... Otherwise, your comments were unecessary and only serves to cause division.

This would be the same as a Christian claiming that all Pagans are Satan worshippers.... I am sure that a true Page would find this not to be factual truth, in which I agree with as well. I understand each and neither are the same. This is true for Catholicism and their Holiday of All Saints Eve and what is (was) termed: Christianity..

To claim otherwise is not truth and that is/was my point! I can't help it if you wanna get all in a fuss about something as simple as that!

In response to Boanerges:

This topic is about Paganism. We will generally not be discussing Biblical doctrine and Christian denominations. I will generally not be making distinctions between denominations and churches. I understand your objection, but Catholics do consider themselves Christian. I will leave Christians to sort out the details. Most Pagans understand that when I use the term Christianity, I am making a generalization.

Also, we will generally not be discussing past persecution. This topic is about parenting and, therefore, focuses on the future of Paganism.

Wendell, I'm not going to argue with you. Non-Christians use the term Christian and Christianity as a blanket statement for the worshippers of Christ and the Holy family just as they use the term Pagan for anyone who isn't Christian, Islamic/Muslim or Jewish.

Do you think that just because I am no longer senior staff at Suite, I've lost the email addresses of the people who would need to know when members and staff break terms of service?

Hi PandoraB...

Thank you for your response.. Hopefully, my message was received in the manner in which I sent it, simply to point out the difference, which I have. Now you know how we feel when information is not correct, (as possible anyway) such if I were to claim something not totally true concerning Paganism. I know you would not appreciate that as well. So I only ask you to now consider there is a difference. I do appreciate you being kewl about it and thank you for you kind response. Know that I ahve no intention on disrupting your topic, nor any one elses... Hey, we all read the good articles here on the Suite... Yours are just as goodsmile So...

Have a fun and safe halloweensmile

I know.. because there isn't any argument Irene! I would hope you can do your histroy more accurately next time. Would you appreciate me claiming all pagans worship Satan, as we think of it in the making of Hollywood films, you know, like Halloween?...

If you truly do not want hate and intolerance, then realize it takes two people to make things happen. You never see misrepresent Paganism in my topic.

Do you think that just because I am no longer senior staff at Suite, I've lost the email addresses of the people who would need to know when members and staff break terms of service?

I didnt know you were senior staff at Suite, Irene.. Sorry about that....

But, now you know the difference between 'Christianity' in general and the Roman Catholic Church, the founders of All Saints Day, or Halloween... Hopefully, you might be considerate of that in the futuresmile I do not misrepresent paganism, and so I would expect no less from my many pagan and atheist friends. I can't see how you would even object to that..

» RaeJane - Welcome and

What a great topic!
This is something that's been very difficult for me to find much information on.
I'm glad you are doing this.
I'm not exactly pagan, not exactwiccancan but somewhere in between.
Either way, this will be a wonderful place for me to visit!
Thanks!

» terpette - Caught an interesting show on the History Channel

over Halloween weekend on the origins of modern Halloween, tracing it from what we know of the ancient Celtic Samhain, through medieval times when it was adopted and transformed by the Catholic Church, and on into today.

Fascinating show... I wish I could remember the exact title. They ran a whole day of shows on Halloween topics... the history of Halloween, history of werewolves, witches, etc.

» Belgorath - Trick or treat

I have just read the article on halloween.

As a child i was taught that the origins of Trick or Treat came from the practice of placing Salt, bread and mead on the herth as an offering to those ancestors, freed by Samen, who would wander the earth at Samhain.
I understood the idea was that the offering was to placate those souls who were somewhat maelevolent, revenge seekers, etc.
Like, "No treat" then vengence would be visited on the Household.
Of course in saying this, I understand that not all cultures follows the same customs. However this was a practice that was followed in my home every year when a child.
